One of the first things I'd assume people will notice is that LTS in the Linux sphere is different. Win7 started life in 2009 and ended here in 2020. Whereas most desktop distros give you a rockin' 3-5 years. If you get a server distro (like CentOS) you might get 10 years of ancient apps. Don't get me wrong here.. I adore Linux. I adore Mint. but people who've spent ages on Windows will expect the LTS nature and up to date applications. When I found FerenOS and figured it was (effectively) a rolling version of Mint, that was great! But now it's KDE, and not so rolling rolling rolling. I like the idea of rolling distros, but have also seen people lose entire installs because of an update. I don't view Linux through rose tinted glasses, but after 10+ years using almost exclusively Linux distros, I have to say Win7 is a better general purpose OS. Mainly because you know what you will get. For example, like installing KDE's versions of things for no other reason than installing an application or Cinnamon's, or whoever. I like KDE, but I don't need multiple versions of Terminal.
